‘As each one does their part, we grow in love’

Spring Term 2025

The children in Oak Class have had very happy term learning all about Eggs, Spring and Farms.  Through their developing skills in Writing and Maths we have focused on writing in sentences using our learnt Phonics and in Maths we have been thinking about Measuring in non-standard units, Doubling and Odd and Even numbers.

We have welcomed our student teacher Miss Adlam who is enjoying working with our youngest children and learning from the adults in school.

Our busy term culminated in our first class trip to Riverbourne Community Farm where we learnt all about the animals and birds that we saw from Golden Pheasants, Hens and Turkeys to an Alpaca called Athena and a Goat called Eric!  Enjoy looking through the photos below.  The children and staff had a lovely morning.

Summer Term 1

Next term we will be asking ourselves, 'Do all Living Things need the same to Survive?' We will be looking at Plants and Planting, thinking about the Weather and much more.  Please take a moment to look at our Parent Planner for more details.

Summer Term 1 - Parent Planner

Can you believe we are exactly half way through your child's first year at school!  The time has flown by and we have seen your children develop into confident, independent learners.  They're all amazing and a joy to teach.

This term we have been busy exploring the thought, 'Is it ok to be cold?'  Through our themed work during this term we have concluded that it's not OK for us to be cold but for some animals it is a necessity.  We've even touched on Climate Change!  We have concluded this term by being ornithologists by erecting a Bird Hide in our outdoor area and making binoculars.  Although we didn't see much diversity, the children know what to look out for when they're out and about!

The children are making such good progress with their Phonics, Maths, Reading and Writing.  We will be sending home the children's latest Phonics Assessments to guide your work with them over the half term holiday.

Next term promises to be a very exciting one with a planned trip to a local farm when we will be asking ourselves the question, "Do all animals start life inside an egg?"

Please enjoy looking through our photos from this term.

Parent Planner for the term ahead

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR FAMILIES IN OAK CLASS.

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and your children are well rested and fighting fit ready for the new term ahead.

Our new learning is hinged on the changing season of Winter and more details about this can be found on the parent planner below.

Please remember that Monday 6th January is a teacher development day and school will be closed to pupils.  We look forward to seeing you all back in school again on Tuesday 7th January.

Parent Planner Spring 1

The Christmas holidays have provided the opportunity for a clear up, sort out and redesign of the children's learning space.  More tables = moving their learning on to the next level wink.  Please make some time to show the children the photographs to prepare them for the new term. See you soon...
