Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium Visit
Our Visit to the Winchester Science Centre was a little delayed! But we finally managed to get there just after Christmas. The children had an amazing time! They had plenty of time exploring the range of wonderful hands-on exhibits as well as completing a thrust and aerodynamics 'Rocket' workshop. Then, to end the day, we finished with a personalised tour of our Solar Syatem, The Milky Way. A great way to finish off our 'Forces' science topic.
During the last few lessons of our 'Ancient Greece' topic, Y5 made Greek inspired clay pots. They came in all shapes and sizes and were designed for a range of purposes.
Unfortunately, during our Covid hit weeks before Christmas, we were designing and making stuffed toys. The children conducted research into a target audience (Year 2) created design 'mood boards' with a range of initial ideas and then finally, narrowed down their design choices before beginning the making process.
Children created templates before carefully cutting their toys out of felt and then sewing them together using blanket stitch. Once they were done, we then had to stuff them!
