‘As each one does their part, we grow in love’

Autumn

September

As the children did not get a 'proper' transitional introduction before the Summer due to the Covid guidelines issued by County, we will be treating the first 3 mornings as a transitional time for your child to become familiar with the classroom, staff and routines.  The expectations for your child during this time will be for them to play, develop confidence, know where things are (e.g. toilets) develop independence and get to know the staff & their classmates a little.  Apart from stories and perhaps singing, we will not be doing any formal learning times. This year we are receiving children from @14 different pre school settings, so it may take your child some time to get to know everyone!

Wednesday 1st - Children start school in Oak class.  Please bring your child to the garden gate at the time specified on the letter you received either during your visit, or in the post/email.  If you have misplaced this letter and time then please contact- admin@winterbourneearls.wilts.sch.uk before the 1st.

Please do not arrive earlier than the time specified, as we have staggered arrivals on the first day, to allow all children to settle in calmly and quietly with their new staff and peers.

Please talk about the arrival at school, what will happen at the gate before the first day and then, on the day,  encourage your child to seperate from you at the Oak class garden gate and come into class as independently as possible.  (I am sure that they were used to doing this at their previous setting before the summer) Don't worry, a member of the Oak class team will be there to support your child and show them what to do.

Please arrive promptly at 11.50 to collect your child before 12 noon, as this is when the other classes go for their lunch and there is much movement around the school.  Please wait in the playgound/under the shelter (do not come into the garden please) for a member of the Oak class team to call your child to the garden gate for you.

Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and beyond- All children in Oak class start school alongside other classes at 9 am.  School is open from 8.50 to enable a steady drop off time for Parents and all childen have to be in class for registration by 9.10am at the latest.  If you arrive after 9.10am please take your child to the school office to be registered with Mrs Hyde/ Mrs Comeley.  Again, we would ask for you to encourage your child to come in through the Oak class gate as independently as possible.
