Summer 2- Local area walk
Our new topic is local area. We went on a walk around Winterbourne and learned lots of interesting facts about specific places. We I'll use this knowledge to create an audio guide for the village.
Wednesday 25th May
Today was DT and Science Day! We used our knowledge of Electrical components to create a Brush Monster that moved! We then used it to conduct a Science Investigation testing how it moved differently on different surfaces.
Tuesday 24th May
As part of Science Week, today we had a very special visitor called Mr G! We had LOADS of fun trying different experiments!
Thursday 20th May
We had an AMAZING trip to Charmouth as part of our Topic on the Jurassic coast linked to Fossils, Rocks and Soils in Science.
BIG thank you to Mrs Rawnson for accompanying us and teaching us all about the three erosion types- attrition, abrasion and solution. After lunch, we met the warden Phil who works for the Charmouth Heritage Centre. He led us fossil hunting on the beach and taught us about the different types of fossils we might find.
Check out some photos below.
This term, we have been writing stories based on the Iron Man. We studied different sentence types, onomatopoeia, similes, fronted adverbials and tried to use these in our writing. All the children did a fantastic job. Take a look at some of our work below!
PE this term
This term's PE is very exciting! We will be doing CrossFit at Sarum CrossFit on Monday afternoons and Swimming on Friday afternoons! In our first CrossFit sessions we tried a circuit style workout and an AMRAP. Take a look at us in action below!
In Computing, we've been learning about how animation has changed over time and tried to make our own animations linked to our focus story The Iron Man. We drew backgrounds and made the character move slightly for each still. Then when we sped up the time, the character appeared to be falling from the cliff!
