‘As each one does their part, we grow in love’

Summer Term 2021

July 2021

We have had a brilliant end to the year. We made fantastic progress in our swimming and Mrs Crompton is super proud. We had an amazing day at Fox Fest and loved all of the activities put on by the PTA, we have made delicious pizza with the Slinky Fox and we enjoyed a water fight as our end of term treat. We hope that everyone has an amazing summer and enjoys their break.

Week beginning 14th June 2021

This week has been brilliant. We have really enjoyed Sports day. In the morning we carried out a variety of activities led by year 6 and earnt lots of points for our house teams. In the afternoon we enjoyed participating in and watching a variety of races on the track. We were all really well behaved and made Mrs Crompton proud. This term we are studying maps and places. We are starting with Sicily and will compare it to Whitby.

Week beginning 10th May 2021

We have had a great week this week. In English, we have been working really hard to include subordinating conjunctions and relative clauses in our descriptive writing and linked this to Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

In Maths we are still working hard on fractions and making really good progress with this.

We have been learning about how water can change forms from solid-liquid-gas in science.

We were lucky enough to have a virtual author visit from local author Jenny Pearson. She has had two books published and lots more that are being developed. One of the children has bought a signed copy of her book from the Rocket Shop bookshop in Salisbury.

Week beginning 4th May 2021

This week we are continuing to write about Charlie and the Chocolate factory and trying to include lots of elements of grammar. We have made some amazing chocolates and loved creating these as well as making packing to go with them. In Maths we've been adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators. We started swimming this week, which was a huge success.

Week beginning 19th April 2021

We've had a brilliant start to the term. We are enjoying our topic- Food Glorious Food. We have enjoyed listening to the story of Charlie and the Chocolate factory and are enjoying learning about where chocolate comes from. We have taste tested some chocolate and sweets and created our own sweets inspired by Willy Wonka.

Welcome back to the summer term.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter and have been enjoying the lovely weather.

This term our topic is Food Glorious Food, in English we will be studying Charlie and the Chocolate factory. This is a very exciting topic where we can enjoy making and tasting as well as looking at where food comes from.  Our topic will have a Geography focus and we will be learning about where cocoa comes from and how it is transported. In science we will continue with states of matter. We are looking forward to welcoming some of you in as parent helpers. If you are able to do this then please let Mrs Hyde know and she will let you know what documentation is required.
