‘As each one does their part, we grow in love’

Autumn Term 2020

December 2020

We've had an interesting lead up to Christmas. Our bubble burst but you did amazing adapting to home learning and we were able to be all back in school for the last week of December. We enjoyed some fun Christmas activities and it was lovely to be back as a whole class. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

November 2020

We started the term with a fantastic webinar session from historic workshops. The children learnt all about WW1 from an actor dressed as a WW1 soldier. They also investigated Flanders Field poem and reflected beautifully on the soldiers sacrifices.

In English we've written beautiful firework poems and have started linking the BFG book to our dreams topic. The children are focusing on quality over quantity and all have targets to work on to keep improving their writing.

We have been enjoying learning about length and perimeter in Maths and are now multiplying by 10 and 100.

In Science starting a new unit on habitats. The children went on a habitat hunt around school and did really well presenting their findings using the chrome books.

In music we are learning a special song and can't wait to perform it. Some of our talented musicians did a group performance in their guitar lessons which we enjoyed watching virtually as a class.

October 2020

We've had a great month. The children have loved learning about our topic 'I have a dream' and enjoyed learning about Rosa Parks. In topic they wrote diaries about the bus boycott and in English we have focused on the text The Firework Maker's daughter and the children have written some amazing adventure stories linked to this text.

We have been learning about addition and subtraction in Maths and are focusing on improving our problem solving skills.

In Science, we've learnt about digestion and have enjoyed finding out about how food travels through our bodies.

Welcome to Beech Class 2020-21!

September 2020

We have had a fantastic start to the year. I have been so impressed with the how the children have adapted to new routines and have taken everything in their stride. We spent the first week settling in and reflecting on the book The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse.

Our topic for this term is 'I have a dream' and our class book is The Firework makers daughter. We have looked at the concept of dreams and they have produced some lovely work including diary entries, persuasive adverts and newspaper reports.

In science ,we have been looking at food and digestion and for RE we are learning about Judaism. The children are enjoying French and Art lessons with Mrs Hood as well.
