The choir started off the school year with a brilliant afternoon with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. We had all learnt a really tricky song called 'Fairytale and Fantasy' composed by one of the leaders of the concert and practised lots of body percussion so we could join with the orchestra. We sang this new song with the 1000 other children from local schools and it sounded great. We had seats right at the back of the City Hall so the view of the orchestra on the floor below was amazing.
We really enjoyed singing in St. Thomas' Church on Tuesday 1 December for the Christmas Tree Festival. The Small Schools' Carol Concert in the City Hall on Monday 7 December went really well. We learnt all four songs by heart and our individual item called 'Mary Did You Know?' went well. One person said that it was lovely to see how enthusiastic and how professional we looked. Well done to Layla who sang a brilliant note perfect solo of 'Once in Royal David's City' without appearing at all nervous. Spire FM came to record us for their 'Sleeps Till Santa' series. We sang 'Three Sleeps Till Santa' and were on Spire FM on Tuesday 22 December. We were videoed too and appear on the radio station's website.
Our 'All I Want For Christmas' flash mob in Celebration Worship on the last day of term went really well with everyone on their feet joining in. It was a total surprise for everyone but we loved it!
This term we are practising some new upbeat Christian songs and some contemporary ones like 'The Happy Song.' We hope to be able to perform to the Day Care Centre in the near future.
