We have had a fantastic start to the academic year. Our topic on the Roman's has been really interesting and we have been writing lots of non-fiction texts about Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. In Maths we have learnt how to write Roman numerals and have developed our place value knowledge. We've started our science topic on plants and have been enjoying learning how to count in German.
We have helped Mrs Crompton settle in at Winterbourne and she is really pleased with how well we have started the term. We've already had some very helpful parents come in and hear us read or support our learning and are really appreciative of this.
Next month we look forward to our trip to the Roman Baths.
We have had another great month in Year 4 and are all looking forward to half term!
We have continued our non fiction writing unit and have written newspaper articles. In Maths we have finished our place value unit and have really improved our knowledge of 4 digit numbers.
The highlight of this month has been our trip to Bath, which was a real success. We learnt all about Roman life and had fun dressing in togas and making mosaics.
November 13th 2017 - Maths workshop
We had an amazing turnout and really appreciate all of the support. The children loved working with family members.
Please find the PPT from the day attached for your reference.
The lead up to Christmas has been a very enjoyable time . We created shepherds for the nativity to be displayed in St Thomas's church and lots of the class were involved in some spectacular singing in church too.
In English we've been writing letters and learnt all about the life of a Roman soldier to help with this task. In Maths we have learnt about formal methods for addition and subtraction as well as multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. We've started our science unit on forces and magnets. We also performed gymnastics routeins to the year 3 children. It's been a great term.
